Nesta dog

This week we got some not so good news on our Nesta dog.  Jason had taken him to the vet on Saturday for his yearly shots.  Jason and the vet thought it would be a good idea to run some blood work since Nesta is 10 yrs old.  We had no reason to believe there were any problems at the time...so when I got the call on Tuesday with Nesta's liver counts 5 X's what they should be was a shock to us!  The doctor was too!  The doctor had told Jason on Sat that he thought Nesta to be in great shape in appearance alone and blood work was taken just based on his age.  We can't think of anything he might have gotten into and this might turn out to be more serious than we want to think about.   So now we are giving NeNe(as Lu calls him) some medicine that will hopefully help and heal his liver.  We take him back next week for blood work to see if the meds are working.  We just need some change!  So please pray for us as a family on what is coming our way!!!  Sounds silly, I know, but we just need to have an understanding with all this and what is human for Nesta.  I know pets aren't designed to live forever but a special gift of unconditional love!  Nesta is a special dog and you just can't help but love him!

Please know we don't think Nesta is any pain at this time and if you didn't read this you would never guess.  He still acts the same...our 10 yr old dog that thinks he is 6 months!

We'll be thinking of you guys and praying for you. I know how tough it is when a pet is sick. Back in Sept the vet tested Bogey (our 9 yr old Golden) and his white blood cell counts were 80,000 (20,000 is reason for concern) - so he was extremely elevated - we were told he had leukemia and would only live 2-3 months.....that was Sept and he's still doing great. Have faith!!
